This LCF course is for students who want to be innovative textile designers for the fashion industry, and focuses on creative approaches to the development and realisation of contemporary fashion textiles. You will explore surface pattern and texture for fashion fabrics through drawing techniques, from mark making to illustration, and will use both traditional craft and contemporary digital print processes. Study of embellishment processes will extend your creative design potential. Industry-facing projects and creative collaborations with pattern cutting, menswear and womenswear students are a feature of the course, and you will design for international markets from high street to couture. A short work placement will give you valuable experience of working in a textile company and making contacts for your future career, and you may enter national competitions. You will be based at Lime Grove in Shepherd's Bush, just west of Holland Park and Notting Hill.
