Drama in the School of Creative Arts and Technologies provides an exciting and challenging programme with an emphasis on contemporary performance practices. Our approach to teaching and learning integrates theories and practices of performance in order to extend our understanding of Drama as an art form in its social, political and cultural contexts. Students are able to take advantage of our nationally-acknowledged teaching expertise and will have opportunities to extend their experience of contemporary performance practices through contact with part time staff and key visiting lecturers. The Drama programmes benefit from extensive links with theatre practitioners and key Irish theatre companies, who use our spaces for performances and delivering practice-based workshops. Drama allows students to learn in a rigorous and stimulating environment where they are encouraged to develop essential skills as thinking creative practitioners. Advertising as a minor supplements your Major Subject by enabling you to progress from a broad awareness into a critically informed knowledge of Advertising. The minor allows you to study both managerial, commercial and creative aspects of Advertising. Taking Advertising as a Minor will allow you to develop a critically-informed knowledge of Advertising from a management, commercial and creative perspective. Through the study of advertising theory and practice, across each year of the programme, you will hone the ability to write effective copy for a range of media channels including radio, PR, digital and billboards, to plan and run a successful advertising campaign, and to select appropriate media for an advertising campaign. A Minor in Advertising comprises of two from the total of six modules you complete per year (three each semester). These draw on extensive staff expertise and internationally-recognised research. A Minor in Advertising ensures you are well-equipped for the wide variety of careers that require advanced communicative and problem solving skills, including advertising, business and marketing.
