Sports Development

Summary: Has the legacy of London 2012 been positive for sport in Great Britain? How has the wider population benefited? Does sport contribute to equality in society? And what are the challenges facing sports development officers, coaches and PE teachers today? Course details: This course explores the sociological, managerial, coaching and psychological elements of sport as well as marketing, policy development and public relations. You unravel the complex issues of funding from grassroots to elite level, and consider whether elite sport and children’s health are of comparable value. After the course: Graduates from this programme are well prepared for careers in sports development and coaching with national governing bodies of sport, local authorities or other similar organisations, as well as physical education. This course is also a good prerequisite qualification for a range of postgraduate courses.
