The Geography with a Year in Industry scheme is aimed at students who are particularly driven to enhance their employability through a period of work experience as part of a 4 year programme of study. You will follow our set BSc Physical Geography programme in Year 1, with a mixed curriculum of human and physical geography but with the emphasis on Physical Geography. In Year 2 you will pick the Physical core and will normally be expected to specialise entirely in Physical Geography (although some modules cross the human-physical divide). Year in Industry students also undertake employability-related programmes in years 1 and 2, and are also required to maintain a specified level of overall attainment (currently 60% and 65% in years 1 and 2 respectively) in order to progress. Whilst the onus is on the applicant to find a placement for the third year, we have dedicated staff available to help, and we also aim to provide some paid placements on a competitive basis. Year 3 is spent on a placement and Year 4 is back in Swansea. Your degree is calculated on your work in your second and fourth years of study.
