Modern Languages, Translation and Interpreting

If you are interested in gaining high-level linguistic training in two languages, acquiring vocational expertise in the theory and practice of translation and spending a year abroad then this is the degree for you. Our Modern Languages, Translation and Interpreting degree programme offers you the opportunity to: • Acquire concentrated language proficiency and the knowledge of specialised business, legal or scientific/technical language. • Choose from the following languages; Chinese, French, German, Italian, Mandarin and Spanish • Receive practical training in our computer laboratories which are equipped with the latest versions of the leading translation software tools. • Spend your third year abroad at two (the two languages you study) of our partner institutions throughout Europe. These institutions are well-known translation schools or universities with special translation degrees. 91% of our graduates are employed within six months of graduating according to the latest DLHE 2015 figures. Our Employability Officer supports our students with information and advice which is backed up by the University’s Careers Service and Work Placement Team. All students have access to events, workshops and employer talks, including an annual conference for students in June to support final year students with the transition into the world of work.
