Ancient History and History (with a Year Abroad)

If you are interested in studying the Greek and Roman worlds, including history, literature, philosophy, archaeology and art in order to shine a light on the ancient civilizations that have shaped our modern world alongside Ancient, Medieval, Early Modern and Modern History and you would like to spend a year abroad then this is the degree for you. Our Ancient History and History degree programme offers you the opportunity to: • Study Ancient, Medieval, Early Modern and Modern History and covers political, social, cultural and military aspects of history and not only British and European history but also the history of Asia and the Americas. • Take module Ancient and Historic Places, a study trip or field project focusing on a specific region or place in your second year. • Be actively involved in voluntary archaeological digs nationally and internationally. • Gain teaching experience by leading workshops for the South West Wales Reaching Wider Partnership. • Spend a year abroad in the third year of your study. 91% of our graduates are employed within six months of graduating according to the latest DLHE 2015 figures. Our Employability Officer supports our students with information and advice which is backed up by the University’s Careers Service and Work Placement Team. All students have access to events, workshops and employer talks, including an annual conference for students in June to support final year students with the transition into the world of work.
