Ancient History and German

If you are interested in studying the Greek and Roman worlds, developing your knowledge of a world language, discovering the rich culture that makes Germany an international centre of the arts and understanding twenty-first-century Germany and its role in Europe and you would like to spend a year in Germany then this is the degree for you. Our Ancient History and German degree programme offers you the opportunity to: • Take module Ancient and Historic Places, a study trip or field project focusing on a specific region or place in your second year. • Actively be involved in voluntary archaeological digs nationally and internationally. • Spend your third year in Germany. You can study at a University, teach in a school or work in a business during your year abroad in Germany. • Combine intensive language tuition with optional modules relating to a wide variety of aspects of society and culture in the German-speaking world. 91% of our graduates are employed within six months of graduating according to the latest DLHE 2015 figures. Our Employability Officer supports our students with information and advice which is backed up by the University’s Careers Service and Work Placement Team. All students have access to events, workshops and employer talks, including an annual conference for students in June to support final year students with the transition into the world of work.
