About Staffordshire University

Welcome to Staffordshire University.

Digitally led and focused on graduate employability, we provide high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate education across a wide range of subject areas including computing, design, law, and business, engineering and healthcare. What’s more, if our current portfolio isn’t already diverse enough, new and industry-relevant courses are being launched every year, such as our pioneering esports undergraduate course - the first of its kind in the UK, or our brand new range of pathway courses, where you have the choice to tailor your own degree while studying.

We pride ourselves on being The Connected University, connecting you with staff, business and career opportunities. As a result of our commitment to constant improvement, we have been shortlisted for University of the Year in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020 and are now recognised as a Top 40 UK University in the Guardian league tables 2020. Our academic staff are constantly contributing to world leading research too, which has led to us breaking into the top 1000 institutions in the World University Rankings 2019.

Graduate employability is at the forefront of our objectives. As a result, all courses provide the opportunity for relevant work-placement, and as a student, you can benefit from a vast network of professional connections from academic staff and alumni alike.

Our locations

The Stoke-on-Trent campus is constantly improving, with over £100m invested in facilities and new buildings in recent years. Plus, it’s in the heart of the UK, with the major cities of Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester just a short train ride away. That’s not all; if you’re a healthcare student, you can benefit from dedicated Centres of Excellence in both Shrewsbury and Stafford that have the latest in medical simulation suites, and work placement healthcare opportunities.

Launched in 2019, we have a Digital Institute based in the capital of the UK that houses our Staffordshire University London students. The institute is in the heart of East London’s Here East creative campus within Queen Elizabeth Park, and has a bespoke tech-focused offering including Cyber Security, Computer Games Design and Esports. The Digital Institute is home to the latest industry-standard facilities such as the 60-seat Esports Arena, and a network of big-hitting companies that are based in the capital.

Facilities are up-to-date and industry relevant, and you’ll get the chance to practice in professional environments such as the £1.3m facility-packed Smart Zone, the Staffs Newsroom, the dedicated Esports Hub, and the Crime Scene House. There’s serious investment our campus too, with a £30m Science Centre, updated learning areas in the brand-new Beacon building, and many more innovative additions just around the corner.

Life at Staffs

At Staffordshire University, we know that student lifestyle is just as important as getting a great education, so we offer a vast range of accommodation options for you to enjoy. We have over 1200 rooms at our Stoke-on-Trent campus, and 50 near our Stafford Centre of Excellence. Despite our city locations, much of the accommodation opens out onto gardens, fields, or intimate courtyards. Outside spaces often have built-in furniture, fairy lights, bean bags, pizza ovens, fire pits and electrical points for music, making Staffordshire University’s campus’ the perfect all year round space to enjoy.

So… not only will you leave us with new knowledge and skills, but you’ll leave with professional connections and unique life experiences, making you ultra-employable in the real world.
