This course is delivered by a highly motivated and well-qualified team of academics. You will develop a critical understanding of key areas in sports development and sports coaching. And you'll learn about sports management, marketing and policy - along with social aspects of sport from a UK and global perspective. Led by our team of experienced coach educators - and using our first class sports and coaching analysis facilities - you'll develop your practical and technical coaching skills and competencies in both field and laboratory settings. This will help you to plan, deliver and analyse your coaching delivery and on-going development. You'll complete a one-day per week placement as part of your final year. Here you'll develop your interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills through real life work experience. Your placement will be highly valued by employers. We have a wide range of placement partnerships in place. Our partners - including Stoke City FC Academy - typically operate in the sports development, sports coaching, PE teaching and leisure club sectors. You'll have the flexibility to make your own placement host arrangements, depending on your needs. You'll need to undertake a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) screening -formerly CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check - before going on placement.
