As a medical engineer, you’ll be involved in the application of engineering principles and concepts in a clinical setting. From the design and development of replacement joints, to the creation of devices to aid rehabilitation, advanced techniques are used to visualise, diagnose and treat conditions in order to improve the quality of life. According to the IMECHE report 'Biomedical Engineering: Advancing UK Healthcare (2014)', Medical Engineering is the fastest-growing engineering discipline of the 21st Century, and a major player in the UK economy. The discipline requires professionals with an excellent grounding in engineering and technology and an understanding of key clinical concepts.
