Automotive Engineering (with placement year)

Our Automotive Engineering BEng degree focuses on the mechanical engineering aspects of the automotive field. If you want to work with suppliers, manufacturers and specialist enterprises in the automotive and motorsport sectors - with companies such as Bentley, Ford, Jaguar Land Rover and JCB - this course could meet your goals. Our facilities include computational fluid dynamics (CFD), finite element analysis (FEA) and Ricardo WAVE engine simulation and analysis software. We also have strong work industry links, so you’ll gain valuable experience as part of your study by completing a placement year. The course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IME) and partially satisfies the educational requirements for professional registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng). Graduates work with manufacturers, tier one and tier two suppliers and specialist enterprises in the automotive and motorsport sectors. Many now work for companies such as Ford, Jaguar Land Rover, Bentley, Cummins and JCB. Others have continued their studies.
