Television Studio Production (Top up)

Hoping to upgrade your existing qualifications into a full honours degree? This one year television studio production top-up course will build on your existing skills and prepare you for an exciting career in multi-camera TV studio production. With a strong focus on employability and on-the-job experience, you’ll graduate from the course with a full understanding of industry practices, technologies and workflows. A key element of this course is collaboration with students from other media disciplines. Not only does this collaboration increase the size of your professional network, it also mirrors industry practices. You might want to bring in make-up expertise for your studio project. You might need special or visual effects work doing. You could commission a composer to write and produce your theme tune. Solent’s School of Media Arts and Technology runs courses in all these areas (and many more), so the skills you need to bring your project to life are all at your fingertips. Our facilities are well suited to this kind of professional collaboration – you could have a presenter in Studio A interviewing a guest in Studio D before introducing a band playing live in Studio C, with audio channels mixed in a dedicated music recording studio. In each of our three multi-camera TV studios you will find a full HD set-up complete with state-of-the-art vision mixing consoles, a multi-channel talkback system, and digital audio and lighting controls. The School has a long history of providing media technology students with exciting and prestigious work experience opportunities. Our close relationship with Glastonbury Festival will see you have the opportunity to apply for a range of production roles. Similarly, our links with Bestival, Camp Bestival and Boardmasters could see you engaging with work experience opportunities throughout the summer. Our ever growing network of production graduates work in TV companies all over the country - both large and small. We regularly have our alumni offering work experience opportunities to current students. Our graduates work on shows including “The X Factor”, “Strictly Come Dancing”, “Would I Lie to You”, “Britain’s Got Talent”, “Have I Got News for You” and “Top Gear” to name just a few.
