Passionate about the latest computing technology? This practical degree programme, accredited by the British Computer Society, focuses on how information technology helps to support the operation and growth of modern organisations. The course will help you to build up the vital transferable skills you’ll need to succeed in an exciting and challenging range of IT careers. Students studying information technology management here at Solent will have the opportunity to use the latest software and hardware in our dedicated computing and networking labs. These include our usability labs, which use eye tracking technology to test the functionality of digital platforms and the quality of the user experience. Students will also have the opportunity to use our devices lab, an area which contains a range of mobile devices for website and application testing. This degree also offers students a range of optional units in their second and third year of study. This helps learners to tailor their degree to their research interests or an area of the industry they would like to progress into after graduation. The course team have a strong network of industry contacts. This has enabled past students to work on live briefs and case studies as part of the curriculum. Students are also encouraged to seek work experience placements each summer - previous students have found placements at IBM, NATS and Accenture. The end of year show gives information technology students the chance to showcase their final projects to the public. Employers are also invited to attend, and past students have successfully gained work placements and employment opportunities as a result of the event.
