Southampton Solent’s unique English and public relations programme will help you to improve your public relations, reputation management and communications skills while undertaking degree level study of English literature. Southampton Solent University’s English and public relations degree offers students a comprehensive study of modern public relations while encouraging them to think in new and imaginative ways about fiction, drama, poetry and language. Taught by knowledgeable researchers and industry professionals, students examine western and non-western cultural contexts and the significance of literature in shaping identity, ideology, representations and politics. Language and critical analysis skills gained during literature modules serve students well throughout their study of public relations. The course team place a great emphasis on student employability, providing students with skills and experiences that are relevant to the needs of industry employers. One of the ways students can boost their employability is by pitching for work with the University’s in-house creative agency, Solent Creatives.
