The foundation year is ideal for those who are looking at an alternative route into higher education, or who wish to update or broaden their knowledge before progressing onto a full undergraduate degree. The course aims to help students develop a strong foundation of business knowledge, alongside academic and transferable skills to ensure they get the most out of their degree-level studies. The Business Foundation Year will help you build your academic skills, providing you with a platform to pursue a business-related undergraduate degree. Successful completion of the foundation year will provide a pathway to the degree BA (Hons) Business Management. Our industry links have provided past students with access to some of the UK’s most inspiring business leaders, including guest lectures from the stars of TV’s Dragon’s Den. Students have also worked as consultants on live client briefs, pitching ideas for top brand including Mercedes-Benz and Ahmad Tea. Selected students are able to pursue additional qualifications during their studies. These include the PRINCE2 project management qualification, as well as industry approved qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Communication Advertising Marketing Foundation (CAM). These qualifications can give jobseekers a real advantage, demonstrating to employers that the candidate is educated to a standard put in place by the industry itself. Students will have the opportunity to join Solent Sparks, the University’s student entrepreneur’s society, which is aimed at providing inspiration and support to every student at the University. Through this you will meet a range of guest speakers, many of whom hold celebrity status.
