Computer Science (Software Engineering)

You learn to be a software engineer, with a strong computer science background, a professional attitude to work, and experience of the process of software development, from initial client meeting, through costing and time estimation, to delivery. You get experience of running a software company in your final year. You learn to work as a team, with outside sponsors, delivering business value. You practise programming games and robots in dedicated laboratories, where you can use all your imagination and creativity. You learn the methods and techniques that cutting-edge companies are looking for. You have the opportunity of going on summer placements or spending one year working in a computing business under academic supervision. You learn from internationally leading academics in their research areas and interact with software professionals at the cutting-edge of information technology. This degree has been accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS), the Chartered Institute for IT. This entitles you to professional membership of the BCS, which is an important part of the criteria for achieving Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status.
