This is a Liberal Studies programme that incorporates an area of specialisation (a major), a general education programme which you will take in your first year providing a broad foundation for your degree, plus electives chosen from a wide range of subject areas to be taken alongside your major. This major combines theory with practice, providing you with the knowledge and skills a journalist needs to thrive in today’s multiplatform, globalised, 24/7 media world. You will critically examine the role of journalism and practice of journalists in contemporary society. The major also provides hands-on experience in a newsroom environment, enabling you to develop your reporting and production skills on multiple platforms. In your foundation year you undertake a general education programme which provides a comprehensive foundation for your degree studies. You choose a ‘major’ subject area whilst taking a range of ‘electives’ to tailor your degree to match your passions and interests. Every module in our liberal studies programme has been specifically designed for the degree, delivering you a broad-based education which engages you in critical and interdisciplinary thinking. Liberal arts graduates are well-prepared to make the most of opportunities in a fast-moving global economy. January start date - apply on our website. September start date - apply through UCAS.
