Liberal Studies (Film Studies) with Integrated Foundation - Regent's University London

This is a Liberal Studies programme that incorporates an area of specialisation (a major), a general education programme which you will take in your first year providing a broad foundation for your degree, plus electives chosen from a wide range of subject areas to be taken alongside your major. The Film Studies major will develop your understanding of the industrial, historical, political and cultural contexts in which films are made and consumed. You will learn how and why particular films take the shape that they do, as well as develop the ability to ask and respond to provocative questions about the implications of film meaning. You will learn about the film production process from both a theoretical and practical perspective and develop your media production skills through creating a short film of your own. You will engage critically with film, from the early cinema classics, all the way through Hollywood blockbusters, to avant-garde digital filmmaking, and learn how to research and write scholarly work about films. Your teachers will bring academic research and practical experience in the film industry and enhance your learning with expert guest speakers and visits to London’s best industry outlets and film locations. January start date - apply on our website. September start date - apply through UCAS.
