It’s mathematics as you know it, only deeper. This course helps you transfer the maths you’ve studied so far into the context of a primary classroom. You’ll work directly with the children to experience different ways of encouraging positive and successful engagement with the subject. You’ll develop your skills and knowledge not only through teaching, but also by discussion and sharing ideas, shaping ways of learning through play. You will bring the subject to life in the classroom thanks to our focus on helping you engage with ‘recreational’ maths. You will also study some mathematics at degree level so you’ll be able to teach the subject all the way up to Key Stage 3.Your subject specialism will enable you to be a subject leader in schools. * 100 per cent of students were in work/study six months after finishing and 100 per cent of those in employment six months after the course were in a professional/managerial job. 85 per cent of students agreed staff made subject interesting and 100 per cent of students agreed staff were good at explaining things. * Launch your career – integrated Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) means you can begin your teaching career immediately. * Gain invaluable practical experience teaching in schools, equipping yourself with the professional skills you need to be a successful, confident primary school teacher. * Boost your employability – throughout the programme you’ll be supported in preparing for interviews and entering the workplace. * Expand your horizons, enhance your practical experience and set yourself above the competition by taking the opportunity to teach and study abroad. * Benefit from studying a course rated 'Good' by Ofsted (2013/2014) and learning from an academic team who are leading the way in their subjects, carrying out research that turns heads worldwide. * Learn through interactive workshops and with no end-of-year/semester exams. * Bring the subject to life in the classroom thanks to our focus on helping you engage with ‘recreational’ maths. * Study some maths at degree level so you’ll be able to teach the subject all the way up to Key Stage 3.
