This foundation degree, developed in conjunction with Thames Valley Police, is designed for anyone who is looking to embark on a career in policing or in a related role in the community, such as prison and probation services. You'll be taught by both lecturers and police officers ensuring that theory and practice are properly integrated. During work placements, you will work alongside regular police officers and have one-to-one support from a tutor constable. You will be expected to work as a special constable, for which the course provides training (the UK's Special Constabulary is made up of members of the public who volunteer to spend time helping to police their local community). After successfully completing this foundation degree, if you wish to become a police officer, you will need to apply to Thames Valley Police and attend a National Recruitment Assessment Centre.
