This is a combined honours course, where you study Drama alongside Film Studies. At Brookes, we harness students’ passion for drama. You have the opportunity to perform in a range of dramas and plays, study the history of English theatre from the medieval period to the present and develop as a critical thinker and practitioner. You engage with key historical and critical questions about the theatre and performance. What did it mean to perform in 1600? Why does Victorian melodrama contain characters and plots suitable for Hollywood blockbusters? Film Studies combines the history, theory and practice of cinema. You will study film analysis and criticism alongside practical work on scriptwriting and video production, and gain valuable insight into the workings of the film industry. A key feature of the course is a work placement option. You will be taught by a team of film specialists and industry professionals with different national and cultural backgrounds, whose diverse research expertise is reflected in the breadth and scope of the curriculum.
