Fashion and Textiles at NTU is ranked 5th in the UK in the university subject tables ( 2017 Guardian League Table). Being the the only course in the UK which is accredited by the Chartered Society of Designers you'll be supported by expert academic and technical staff to learn hand-crafting and digital techniques in our world-class facilities. These include hand looms and screen printing, through to industry-standard textile technology and full modernised studios and workshops. The course continues to develop strong links with industry and provides endless opportunities to enter live projects and compeititions, with companies like Next, Fat Face Romo and ANN INC. These competitions often result in students being offered internships, or graduate positions. The course is delivered in variety of ways including: briefings, lectures, seminars, presentations and study visits and you'll be assessed 100% by coursework. You’ll also have the exciting and unique opportunity to transfer to our BA (Hons) Fashion Knitwear Design and Knitted Textiles or BA (Hons) Fashion Accessory Design in Year Two. To enhance your employability, you’ll receive support to undertake informal work experience and internships and have the opportunity to apply for an exchange in Year Two to study at another university in Europe through our Erasmus+ scheme. During your university exchange, you’ll gain an international perspective through overseas visits to fashion and textiles events and by working with global companies. Study trips include visiting international trade shows such as Première Vision in Paris. This course will encourage you to undertake work experience alongside your studies and to work on live projects to gain good time-management skills and even the chance of employment after graduating. Recent students have gained valuable experience with companies such as Paul Smith, Julien Macdonald and Romo. You’ll exhibit your work in Year Three at our Degree Shows in Nottingham, and have the opportunity to exhibit at New Designers in London to members of different creative industries and you may get selected to showcase your designs at SPINEXPO in Shanghai, China. 100% of students go into employment or further study within six months of graduating (DHLE Survey 2015-16). Many of our recent graduates have secured exciting roles in the industry, such as a textile design assistant at Boden, fashion adviser at Mama & Papas, studio assistant at Nina Campbell and print assistant at Paul Smith.
