Joint Honours degrees offer you the maximum flexibility to study subject areas that genuinely interest you. You’ll be able to shape your study according to your strengths, interests and career ambitions. Spanish at NTU will enable you to develop rapid language skills within the written and spoken language of Spanish and you'll explore contemporary Spanish and Latin American culture, society and politics. Our Modern Languages and Linguistics degrees are ranked Top 20 in the Guardian League Tables 2020. International Relations will provide you with the skills and knowledge to make informed choices that have an impact on a local, national and international level. You'll comprehend the significance of many of the big issues within international politics and look at the relationships between different cultural and religious communities. SPANISH at NTU can be studied as a beginner course or as a post A-level (you will need A-level Spanish to study this level). The course is in the UK's Top 20 for student satisfaction (NSS 2019). It has been designed to offer you a rapid progress in the Spanish language and an in-depth knowledge of the cultures and societies in which it is spoken in. You'll explore contemporary Spanish and Latin American cultures, politics and society. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of the countries culture as well as develop a high level of language proficiency. In Year Three you will have the opportunity to spend time working or studying in Spain or South America at one of our partner universities. Our Spanish course will enhance your reading and listening skills as you'll be taught using the latest language-teaching methodologies and CALL technologies and be given access to our fantastic language resource centres. This course will provide you with a variety of skills that will equip you for your transition into the world of work. You'll be able to hone your reading, written and listening skills by examining a selection of authentic written and audio-visual texts on various themes and topics. You'll also develop transferable global workplace skills such as being able to spot global trends, which will give you a competitive edge to work in various international organisations. Alongside this you'll acquire independence, self-motivation and excellent critical analysis skills which will help you both in your professional and personal life. Language graduates are in high demand for a variety of roles. Our graduates continue to be recruited by firms based in Spain or Latin America within industry, media and the education sectors. Our International Relations course aims to examine the changing world in which we live in, international politics and will help you to make informed choices. You'll investigate the relationship between states, peoples, social movements, cultural and religious communities as well as researching political violence and peace. This course will help you develop a greater awareness of the complexity and connectedness of the processes that shape our worlds. This joint honours degree will prepare you for a selection of national and international careers. The cultural communication skills that you'll acquire from this course include, self-reliance, confidence and excellent communication skills both written and verbal. This will put you at an advantage for the many jobs which are available in both private and public sectors in the UK. International Relations will educate you on how to identify key issues within international politics and how to make informed choices that will have an impact at local, national and international levels. Many of our recent graduates have found careers within non-governmental organisations, the private sector and civil service. 98% of our International Relations joint honours undergraduates are in work or further study within just six months of finishing their degree (DLHE 2016/17).
