Property Finance and Investment

There are many reasons why you should choose BSc (Hons) Property, Finance and Investment at NTU. This course is accredited by the Royal Institution of Charted Surveyors (RICS) and is a professional route to become a chartered surveyor. This course has been developed to provide for the growing need for investment and finance graduates within the property industry. The course provides you with detailed specialist knowledge and skills in areas including: site appraisal and design; valuation; portfolio management; investment appraisal; finance; sustainability planning and development consultancy; and management of the development process. This will be through a variety of ways including; real briefs which are set by companies, guest lectures and sponsored awards. There is also an exciting relationship between financial markets, investment and property which enables many surveyors within the field to become some of the highest paid. You’ll gain detailed skills surrounding areas such as; site appraisal and design, valuation, portfolio management, investment appraisal, finance sustainability and much more. The course will enable you to develop surveying competencies such as business planning, client care and negotiation techniques. The course is taught by our academic experts who have excellent experience and links with industry and professional bodies. Learning will take place through lectures which will be supported by smaller group sessions such as seminars, tutorials, field trips and practical exercises. You’ll then be assessed through a mix of coursework, exams and practical exercises. You will have the opportunity to familiarise yourself with, and use industry-standard software including: digital mapping, development appraisal, property and environmental risk information and industry-standard information systems and databases. Throughout your studies you’ll gain experience from a European field trip which is included in your fees, recently our students visited Berlin market and companies such as CBRE. Our students have gained benefits from our long-standing and continuing partnerships with many successful organisations. Students have worked on real live projects with well-renowned companies such as Rolls-Royce and Savills. The course will also allow you to attend site visits, venues and various projects. Many industry experts from companies such as Boots and Cushman & Wakefield will guest lecture. You’ll also be able to undertake a one-year placement if you choose the sandwich year option of this course, where you’ll gain invaluable industry experience to practically apply your learning and to build a network of contacts within this field. 95% of our placement graduates are in work or further study within just six months of graduating. You’ll also be able to take advantage of our mentoring programme where you’ll be able to work alongside NTU alumnus who are now working in industry. Many of our recent graduates have gone on to work as rent renewers, chartered surveyors and commercial property surveyors at companies such as Montagu Evans, SGP Property and AXA Real Estate.
