This one year top-up degree has been designed for those who have already completed two years of a fashion-related degree course or have an equivalent qualification such as a specialist Diploma, Foundation degree or HND. It is an ideal course for anyone who wishes to pursue a creative career with a business element. This course will improve your understanding of how the fashion industry operates and you’ll gain an international understanding of the industry in terms of creative buying, fashion trends and product concepts. You’ll be taught through a series of lectures, workshops, tutorials and visual technology skills and will be assessed 100% by coursework. The course has will give you the opportunity to learn about events, management and methods of visual and verbal communication in relation to the global fashion industry. Although it is only a one year course, the skills and knowledge you’ll learn will help you to secure employability within the creative, fashion and business sectors. The course will work effectively on live projects with major companies such as Next and Whistles to help you to gain efficiency, excellent time management skills and experience of working with well-known fashion brands. You’ll gain international fashion experience by going on optional study trips to some of the biggest fashion cities such as New York and Florence and you’ll be able to experience Copenhagen Fashion Week. You’ll also attend research trips to Liverpool and London. This course has great partnerships with many businesses within the fashion industry who will visit as guest lecturers, including: representatives from Sainsbury’s, Next and Whistles and marketing consultancy BDA London. At the end of your course you’ll showcase your work as part of NTU’s Degree Show with many members of the creative industries attending. The modules focus on enhancing your employability prospects that’s why you’ll engage with competitions, live projects and visit professionals within the industry. Our recent graduates have pursued a variety of roles ranging from buying assistants to global sourcing positions, fashion designers and visual merchandisers, they work for companies like: ASOS; Christian Dior; Burberry; H&M; Per Una; Reiss; Sonia Rykiel; Topshop; Givenchy and Nike. 96% of our graduates are in employment or further study within six months of graduating (DHLE 2015-16).
