Our joint honours degrees enable you to have the maximum flexibility to study subject areas that truly interest you. FRENCH at NTU has been created to ensure a quick learning progress of the French language and an in-depth understanding of the societies and cultures in which it is spoken. You'll also be offered an exciting option to either work or study in France during your third year. 95% of our French joint honours undergraduates are in work or further employment within just six months of finishing their degree (latest Destination of Leavers from Higher Education survey 2015-16).You'll gain an impressive communicative skill whilst developing your accuracy and fluency. To help improve your career prospects you'll be able to take a final year module that develops translation and interpreting skills which you'll be able to utilise in your future careers. EUROPEAN STUDIES at NTU will give you the chance to study interesting aspects of European politics, society and culture. If you're interested in the ways in which many historical, political and social movements have shaped contemporary Europe and what the term 'Europe' means to societies then this joint honours degree is ideal for you. You'll quickly enhance your language skills through the use of French language classes which will explore areas of French culture, society and politics. To help improve your career prospects you'll be able to take a final year module that will develop your translation and interpretation skills. European Studies will provide you with a detailed understanding of the forces that have shaped contemporary Europe. This course offers a unique opportunity to specialise in European Cultural Studies, European Cinema or European Politics and Society. You’ll examine how historical, geographical and cultural factors have impacted contemporary Europe and contemporary issues. You'll be taught by active researchers whose current strengths include, social movements, gender and Cinema and they'll encourage you to question whether there is a common European culture and what Europe is. This joint honours degree will prepare you for a range of national and international careers. You'll develop strong French communication skills and a great understanding of European culture. You'll gain critical awareness, be able to multi-task and become more intellectually motivated. Our French course will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the French language and culture. During your third year you'll have the opportunity to either work or study in France to practically apply your learning of both subjects and to gain independence. Being able to communicate in a variety of ways in a modern language is a skill that many of the leading firms of today's society are looking for. European studies will help to give you a broad understanding of the Contemporary Europe whilst examining Europe's historical, geographical and cultural meanings. This course offers a unique opportunity to specialise in a particular area such as European Cultural Studies or European Cinema. You'll also gain important knowledge surrounding the EU deal with migration, energy and the environment, which will provide you with a solid ground of knowledge to undertake numerous career options available to you nationally and internationally. Some of our most recent graduates have pursued careers within the civil service, journalism, education, United Nations and various international charities. Students with a language degree are now actively sought after by employers for today's markets.
