With more than 40 years’ experience in fashion education, NTU offer this specialist, prize-winning course in Fashion Accessory Design, reflecting the growing market in fashion product and accessories. Fashion and Textiles at NTU is ranked 5th in the UK in the university subject tables (2017 The Guardian University League Table). There is a high demand for expertly trained graduates with a thorough understanding of the products, principles and techniques in this field. You'll have the opportunity to design, develop and make fashion products such as handbags, gloves, footwear, belts and travel goods. Learn skills such as pattern cutting, leather working, illustration and 3D product design. This course has exceptional links with industry and our graduates have fantastic career prospects in fields such as product development and accessory design. 93% of graduates from the School of Art & Design are in employment or further study with six months of graduating. This course has exceptional links with industry, brands and organisations, allowing you the opportunity to build a professional network before you’ve even graduated. You’ll hear from guest lecturers, work on live briefs and enter international competitions. Our Fashion Accessory Design students have recently gained work experience with Mulberry, River Island, Skinnydip London and Oasis. You can also apply to take part in an international exchange in Year Two, including the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Most of the time you’ll be taught in creative studios in the Bonington building - our Art & Design hub - through lectures, workshops, tutorials and live projects. A fantastic range of equipment will be at your disposal, including fabric laser cutting and engraving facilities, our state-of-the-art digital print facility and computer-aided design (CAD) suites. Explore materials such as leather, wood, metal, textiles, and techniques such as screen printing, embroidery and surface pattern design. The course is assessed 100% through coursework. During your final year, your work will be celebrated at the NTU Degree Show, giving you exposure to visitors from the creative and commercial industries. Your work may also be selected to be exhibited at Graduate Fashion Week in London, where NTU Fashion Accessory students have won awards in the past. Our teaching staff have a wealth of industry experience, each of them experts in their specialist field and many have their own fashion product lines. Students have the opportunity to apply for an educational grant of up to £4,000 a year from The Leathersellers’ Company.
