There is a high demand for expertly trained graduates with a thorough understanding of the products, principles and techniques involved in this field. You will experience the design and manufacture of a diverse range of products, pattern making, illustration, 3D materials, processes and technologies. This skilled course will offer you an exciting opportunity to develop current design and manufacturing skills which are needed to produce fashion products and accessories such as: bags, gloves and belts. The course will enable you to work and build sustainable and professional relationships with industry professionals to work on live projects which will help to strengthen your portfolio. NTU has exceptional links with many industry organisations and you’ll gain useful skills such as organisation and team work by participating in live projects with international brands such as Paul Smith and working closely with our award-winning staff. You’ll be offered unique and exciting international exchanges at places like the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. The academic staff at NTU will encourage you complete short periods of work experience to help you enhance your professional skills and you’ll enter national and international competitions such as the Independent Handbag Designer Awards in New York. You’ll be taught most of the time in a creative studio through the use of lectures, tutorials and live projects and the course is assessed 100% through coursework. You’ll gain an insight into the industry through regular visits form award-winning professionals who have developed exceptional careers in the leather goods industry. During your final year you’ll exhibit your work as part of our Degree Show to members of the creative industries and may be selected to distribute your work at Graduate Fashion Week in London. You’ll visit UK destinations such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and in your second year of study you’ll visit an international city such as New York, Paris or Amsterdam.
