Fashion Accessory Design

Learn sought-after skills in 2D and 3D design, illustration, pattern cutting, product development and the manufacture of a diverse range of high-end fashion products. This includes bags, luggage and a wide range of wearable pieces such as headwear, bespoke gloves, jewellery and footwear. You’ll have the opportunity to work with materials such as leather, wood, metal, resin, digital print, plastics and more. Gain skills in computer-aided design (CAD) and innovative new approaches such as 3D printing. This course is ideal if you’d like to go into fashion accessory design, product development, buying, or start an independent fashion product business after graduating. **Key features of the course** - NTU has a rich heritage in teaching fashion design and is ranked 4th in the UK for Fashion and Textiles. (Guardian University League Tables 2019) - Learn skills in traditional and digital design and manufacturing processes, plus innovative approaches such as 3D printing. - Work with advanced technologies, including laser cutting, digital printing, computer-aided design (CAD), and software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. - Work on live projects with companies such as Paul Smith, River Island and Dr. Martens. - Benefit from working with visiting professionals such as Estethica’s Orsola de Castro and Sarah Williams from Williams Handmade. - Complete short periods of work experience at fashion brands such as Mulberry, New Look, Speedo and River Island. - Our students have consistently been named finalists and winners in top competitions, such as the Accessories Award at Graduate Fashion Week and the Independent Handbag Designer Awards in New York. - Apply for a paid summer placement, linked to your live projects. - Apply for an international exchange to places like the Ryerson University in Canada. - Our fashion staff have excellent links with industry, such as The Leathersellers’ Company who offer educational grants and annual awards for excellence and innovation in the use of leather. - Exhibit your work at our Degree Show in Nottingham, and showcase your work at Graduate Fashion Week in London. **Assessment** Assessment is 100% through coursework. You will receive feedback throughout each module and will be awarded a grade. **Employability** The School of Art & Design has an excellent graduate employment rate, with 95% of graduates in employment or further study within six months.
