Foundation Year in Business

Newcastle Business School is a leading provider of undergraduate business education winning "Business School of the Year" in 2016 and externally accredited in both AACSB and EPAS. The Foundation Year prepares you for entry onto a degree programme in a Business School in the top 1% of institutions around the world, including highly externally accredited programmes such as the flagship BA (Hons) Accounting degree and BA (Hons) Business Management degree. A significant underpinning of the programme content is the importance of developing key undergraduate academic skills and business curiosity, with you being prepared upon successful completion of the foundation year for entry onto a business honors degree. As such, you will undertake a module in Academic Practice for Business which enables and encourages you to acquire learning skills and take responsibility for, and development of, their own learning. Your business curiosity will be developed in both Ethical Issues in Business, and Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship, with both modules forming the basis of your understanding of the challenges that modern businesses face. This business awareness and interest will be further developed in Business in the Headlines in which your general mindfulness and cognizance of contemporary business practice will be supported and enabled. Finally, you will undertake a project in your second semester which will be the culmination of your academic skills progress and the development of your business curiosity, in which you will demonstrate your ability to research an area of your chosen discipline, and establish your academic preparedness to undertake undergraduate study at a leading business school. Completion of the programme has no formal exit award itself, but allows for progression onto level 4 of the linked degree award. On the completion of the course you will progress to one of the following: BA (Hons) Business with Accounting BA (Hons) Business with Economics BA (Hons) Business with Management BA (Hons) Business with Entrepreneurship BA (Hons) Business with Financial Management BA (Hons) Business with Tourism Management BA (Hons) Business with Human Resource Management BA (Hons) Business with International Management BA (Hons) Business with Marketing Management BA (Hons) Business with Logistics and Supply Chain Management BA (Hons) Accounting BA (Hons) Financial and Investment Management BA (Hons) Entrepreneurial Business Management BA (Hons) Business Management BA (Hons) International Business Management BA (Hons) International Business Management with French (A Level French also required) BA (Hons) International Business Management with Spanish BA (Hons) Marketing Management BA (Hons) Human Resource Management BA (Hons) Tourism and Events Management
