Creative Writing

An enjoyable and inspiring course that helps you develop as a writer, whatever your preferred genre. Be it poetry, fiction, non-fiction, or performance writing, this course allows you to explore different areas and learn new skills before focusing on your chosen area. A focus on innovation and new writing makes this course particularly vibrant, exciting and current. Unique to Newman, this course also offers a holistic approach that nurtures individual creativity as well as encouraging creative responses to a wider world. Students are encouraged to explore such questions as: what is the role of the writer in the community; can writing make a difference (to ourselves and to others); is creative writing valuable or viable in the ‘real world’? Taught by experienced and engaging tutors whose own creative practice serves to inspire and guide, students can be assured of expert support as they embark on the challenges and rewards of a writing life.
