About National Research Saratov State University

Saratov State University was founded in 1909. Being the largest scientific educational center in the Volga Region it was awarded the status of a National Research University within the Russian Government sponsoring program. SSU provides bachelor’s, master’s, and postgraduate’s degrees. The discoveries of SSU researchers are used in electronics, engineering, chemistry, oil, geology, and other industries.

 Saratov State University is a big dynamically developing university complex. It has significant educational, scientific, and innovative potential. SSU actively participates in international educational and research programs. There are preparatory courses for school students and enrollees and the Preparatory Department for International Students in SSU.

Saratov State University consists of 15 faculties (Biology, Computer Science and Information Technologies, Economics, Foreign Languages and Language Teaching Methods, Geography, Geology, Law, Mathematics and Mechanics, Nano- and Biomedical Technologies, Nonlinear Processes, Pedagogical and Special Needs Education, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Sociology), 7 institutes (Arts, Chemistry, Continuing Professional Education, History and International Relations, Philology and Journalism, Pre-University Education, Sports and Physical Training), and 2 colleges (Geology, Radioelectronics). There is a SSU filial in Balashov – the largest university filial in Russia, which has 9 departments.
