This exciting degree is a new programme addressing the increasing interest in the influence of nutrition and diet on sport and exercise performance from elite to recreational. It mirrors the recent developments in public health to reflect the importance placed on the dual role of nutrition and exercise strategies in managing a healthy lifestyle. The knowledge and skills gained on this course will produce graduates with an excellent understanding of the influence of nutritional and dietary related factors on athletic and physical performance. The structure of the course allows students opportunities to gain practical experience of working with athletes and population groups within professional and amateur sports clubs, private leisure industries and within public health. The Sport and Exercise Nutrition degree is designed to run alongside the Nutritional Sciences degree with opportunities to share learning, skills and knowledge. More importantly, it allows you to specialise in an area of expertise increasingly acknowledged by professionals to be a key part of health and physical performance. The course offers an optional placement year and the opportunity to complete a range of accredited short courses including the nationally recognised International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK) qualification.
