Taught by experienced and HCPC registered Physiotherapists our BSc(Hons) Physiotherapy programme will enable you to acquire knowledge, skills, attitudes and values which you will then use to assess patient needs, identify patient problems, set treatment goals, select and safely apply appropriate evidence based physiotherapy interventions so that patients reach their maximum potential. You will be able to evaluate the effectiveness of your clinical practice using a variety of valid and reliable measures. You will be based in the award-winning, £139m Brooks building, designed specifically for the Health and Education faculties, which will provide you with access to state-of-the-art clinical equipment and facilities. The physiotherapy programme embodies the core values of the NHS Constitution and fully prepares students for the challenges of modern physiotherapy practice. It is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and graduates are eligible to apply for registration as a physiotherapist under the provisions of the Health Professions Order (2001). Our BSc(Hons) programme is also subject to the validation procedures of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and is an approved course. Graduates are able to seek status as a chartered physiotherapist on qualification and are eligible for membership of the professional body. Staff in the department are research active, engaged in current projects and activities which inform and direct what the curriculum and how you are taught. Facilities include fully equipped practical rooms with modern equipment that mirrors the practice environment. The programme team have strong relationships with physiotherapy service managers in NHS and non NHS settings. Through these relationships the programme team are able to secure practice placements to allow students to apply their learning (theoretical and physiotherapy skills) in the clinical setting. There is an on-site physiotherapy and acupuncture clinic which is open to the public and offers the opportunity for staff and students to access a variety of treatments including sports massage, musculoskeletal and neurological therapies. 97% of Physiotherapy students say that our academic staff are enthusiastic about what they are teaching.
