With our Human Physiology degree, you’ll develop both a strong theoretical and a practical understanding of physiology, with a particular focus on physical activity and health. You’ll look in-depth at the human body – from the cellular level to the whole person – through specialisms like molecular biology, neuromuscular physiology, cardiovascular science and human movement science. You’ll also get up to speed with the latest theories about how the body responds to movement, exercise and nutrition. In our high-tech laboratories, you’ll learn how to monitor and scientifically investigate the various physiological systems as bodies come under physical and environmental stress. The degree combines the life and health sciences teaching strengths with the internationally regarded research expertise of the Department of Life Sciences. **FEATURES AND BENEFITS:** - This degree is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology as meeting in part the academic and experience requirement for membership and Chartered Biologist (CBiol) status. - Provides up-to-date knowledge on areas of significant interest in human physiology, with particular emphasis on physical activity and health. - Our teaching and research laboratories include a point-of-care testing and clinical skills laboratory, blood biochemistry, biomechanics, motor control and exercise performance laboratories, and a purpose-built facility for the advanced practical study of physiology. - You’ll have access to specialist equipment for research in genetics, cell biology, nutrition, orthopaedics, gerontology, exercise science and bioengineering.
