History/Social History

This course allows you to combine the study of historical periods, political history, wars and revolutions with a study of the relationship between history and society and the lives of ordinary people. History is not just concerned with writing narratives about the past, but also with interpreting the past. You will be encouraged to investigate how and why changes have occurred or why changes that might have been anticipated haven’t happened. Social History is concerned with the nature of past societies and examines the lives of individuals, classes, groups and regions that were previously considered historically unimportant.
