This course will undergo a review during 2016/17 which may mean a change to the course title and units of study. Forensic Biology is the application of biological science in support of law and litigation. Areas of study will involve many key concepts of biology such as molecular biology, microbiology, toxicology, entomology and genetics, with particular focus on forensic applications. Your biological studies will be combined with the procedures of forensic case handling. In our purpose-built crime scene facility, you will gain hands-on experience investigating a variety of different materials such as fingerprints, body fluids, DNA and other biological samples within a range of practical case contexts. You will learn how to evaluate and interpret the significance of your findings and how to communicate these in a legal setting.
