This new, dynamic course will deliver a technology-focused approach to issues facing the future of the fashion industry. You will engage with and develop skills in cutting-edge technologies such as anthropometrics (body scanning), 2D and 3D avatar design, traditional and digital pattern development, textile testing from fibre to human interaction, SMART fabrics and wearable garment technologies. You will then utilise these skills by applying them to challenging creative design projects, which respond to real-world problems. The investigative and research-led nature of the course means that as you progress you are expected to establish your own specialism and produce original solutions and products which reinforce sustainability, take account of the social value of clothing and are at the cutting-edge of fashion. Graduates from this programme will be equipped with an excellent skill base and forward-thinking approach to the creative process and pioneering outputs, which inform future fashion practices within an industry context.
