Education Studies

Education Studies offers an exciting opportunity to understand education and its role in society, how people learn and the relationship between policy and practice in schools. Education is at the centre of government policy and, as such, is a socially relevant area of academic study which can lead to a diverse range of careers. Our interdisciplinary degree encompasses aspects of philosophy, psychology and sociology in the exploration of both historical and contemporary educational theory, policy and practice. You will have the opportunity for example, to explore key, contemporary issues in education; engage with issues concerning social justice and inclusion and gain insights into early years education, citizenship and the impact of globalisation on education systems. The programme has developed strong links for voluntary work and international opportunities, both in Europe via the University's Erasmus programme, or further afield, including the USA, Japan or Australia. Education Studies is based at the University's Manchester campus. Features and Benefits - Full and part time routes available - Access to 'EdLab', our enrichment and innovation programme, which offers opportunities to engage with community, education and learning projects - Acquire the skills and understanding for varied career pathways - Gain valuable work experience in different educational settings - Opportunity to study overseas in Year 2
