Economics/International Business

This degree combines the study of Economics with International Business. Economics Successful businesses operate from a sound financial footing. They can quickly identify income sources, the costs of providing products and services and make informed decisions about their future. Economics will teach you how to use your aptitude for reason and analysis, to identify and communicate core problems affecting income and socio-economic conditions. As an economist, you will examine the choices that individuals, companies and governments have to make that affect not just business, commerce and finance but every aspect of our daily lives. You will have access to leading financial and statistical software used by global firms, such as Bloomberg and STATA and benefit from a friendly and supportive environment, with access to an award-winning Accounting, Finance and Economics (AFE) Student Society. There are opportunities to participate in business competitions and gain advice from successful entrepreneurs and business consultants. International Business Recent political and economic developments such as Brexit have ensured that international trade agreements, foreign direct investment and the attractiveness of where a company does business and accesses talent is more important than ever. In the digital age, almost every business operates on the world stage and supplies to multiple countries. In order to compete in this hugely competitive marketplace, graduates need to know how to conduct business overseas and the nuances of doing business in a specific territory. The international business element of this degree will allow you to gain specialist knowledge in managing people of different cultures and backgrounds, and the political and governing structures of different markets that influence how businesses operate. It will provide you with the business knowledge and cross-cultural management skills you will need in order to develop and maintain international business relationships in often volatile political, cultural and economic environments. We offer four-year routes where you can spend your third year on industrial placement or studying abroad at one of our overseas partner universities.
