This is a four-year integrated Masters course, which allows you to gain higher-level skills and really stand out to employers. The first three years are broadly in common with the BA (Hons) Business Management degree, complemented with an integrated industrial experience. The fourth year is the Masters level study. The integrated industrial experience starts in the second-year, with students joining a student led consultancy practice operated through the University’s business incubator. On completion of your studies, you will graduate with a Masters-level degree in Business. Year 1 will give you a thorough grounding in finance and accounting, people management, business environment, and entrepreneurship. In Year 2 you will explore business operations, marketing, and ethical, social & ecological enterprise. You will also start your industrial experience in consultancy. Year 3 will focus on strategic management and leadership and two further units. You choose to specialise by selecting an option unit from a wide range of business disciplines, and you will take on management responsibility within the consultancy practice. In Year 4 you will further develop your global perspective and critical thinking skills, undertake a substantial consultancy project, and chose a specialist option unit. We are a double-accredited business school, having gained the prestigious AACSB accreditation to provide excellence in global management education. This places us among the top 5% of business schools worldwide to have secured this accreditation and means your degree is internationally recognised. M Business is accredited by CMI at programme level, which means you can obtain the CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership on successful completion of your studies, in addition to your degree. This accreditation is included in your course fees. The CMI accreditation also enables you to join the Institute as a student member. The Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IOEE) also recognise the M Business degree for the inclusion of effective enterprise and entrepreneurship skills development. Students can become student members of the Institute. You will be taught in the Business School’s state of the art building on All Saints Campus in central Manchester. All levels of study, including the Masters at Level 7, will be treated the same for funding. At Level 7 you will have access to the exclusive Postgraduate facilities and will have the opportunity to network with other Masters students. You will undertake three industrial placements (work experience within a student-led consultancy practice) in years 2, 3 and 4 as part of your study programme. Staff teaching on this course are research active and apply their work to current business practice through informing government policy, providing consultancy services and supporting entrepreneurs. They share their ‘real world’ experience with you to ensure that you are close to the issues and emerging trends that affect the business community. There are opportunities to study a language alongside your degree studies. The Faculty of Business and Law hosts two Professional Development Weeks annually. Free and open to all students, this includes a festival of skills-development activities, practical support in developing your CV and employability skills, and the opportunity to network with actively recruiting graduate employers.
