You'll explore the evolving nature of both diplomatic and international legal practice, examining, among other questions, the growing diplomatic presence on the world stage of international organisations, nongovernmental organisations and other actors, thanks in large part to developments in information and communication technology. You’ll be taught by staff with extensive experience in the field and will be given the opportunity to pursue specific interests, such as a particular region (such as the Middle East) or issue (like the environment), or to study a language. This is a practical course that develops your employability for a range of careers. You'll be encouraged to take a one semester or year-long placement module with a relevant organisation and to attend lectures and talks from serving and former diplomats. You’ll also enjoy visits to institutions such as the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and various embassies across the city.
