Art & Design History and Film & Visual Culture

Art & Design History: Art and Design History is an exciting discipline which encompasses the study of visual artefacts, museum and gallery practice and the production and circulation of meaning around art and design. The curriculum will address key developments in art and design history from Antiquity to the present day, with a strong focus on early modern, modern and contemporary art. Film & Visual Culture: Film and Visual Culture at Liverpool Hope is summed up by the term critical and creative practice. Critical practice enables you to study the history, theory and contemporary subject of film, whilst having the opportunity to apply this understanding to creative practice in the fields of screenwriting, filmmaking (drama and documentary), photography and animation. Thus you will graduate with a degree underpinned by academic rigour, but with the transferable skills needed if you intend to work in the creative industries.
