Sport Psychology - Leeds Trinity University

Are you fascinated by how thoughts, emotions and physiological responses can affect athletic performance? Immerse yourself in an exciting and ever-expanding topic of research and practice when you choose to study Sport Psychology. We'll teach you the key concepts and theories specific to sport psychology, as well as giving you a comprehensive grounding in the core elements of mainstream psychology. This approach will enable you to learn to consider how key areas of psychology apply to all levels of sport, from grassroots football to Olympic competition. In your first year, you'll get an introduction to key topics and theories relating to working with individual athletes. You'll develop your independent research skills in the second year, considering the application of sport psychology services to team environments. You'll then apply the skills and knowledge you have developed in your final year by working directly with an athlete. Over the three years, you will also get plenty of hands-on experience through the professional work placements or volunteering opportunities included within your degree. **Placement opportunities** We are one of only a few UK universities to build professional work placements into every degree. You'll complete two professional work placements, which will give you the chance to graduate with up to three months' professional work experience without having to take a sandwich year out. Our students usually complete their placements in school-based sports roles or professional sports organisations. Be inspired by some of our students' most recent placement employers which have included Badminton England, Leeds Rhinos Rugby Club, Sevilla FC (in Spain), Rotherham United Football Club, the RAF and a wide range of primary and secondary schools. **Graduate opportunities** Your degree will prepare you for careers across a wide range of sporting sectors, but you will also develop transferable employability skills which can be applied to a variety of non-sporting organisations and sectors. Our recent graduates are working at organisations ranging from St Helens RFC and the NHS, to businesses and marketing companies.
