Psychology - Leeds Trinity University

Are you fascinated by how and why people behave and think? Do you want to develop the skills and knowledge that enable you to have a positive impact on society? You'll get a thorough understanding of how psychology is used in international contexts, together with how psychological practice and research differs across diverse cultures and societies. This international and cross-cultural focus will enable you to critically explore how psychology can be used to create positive change in the world. We'll teach you the core areas of psychology, which include developmental, cognitive, social, biopsychology and individual differences. You'll put this theory into practice through the two professional work placements included in your degree, as well as assessments which help you to develop valuable real-world skills. In your final year you can choose your specialism from a range of applied areas, including mental health and distress, counselling psychology, forensic psychology and health psychology. We create a supportive and lively learning environment in which you'll learn through teamwork and collaboration. We'll support you in developing your research skills from day one until your final year, when you'll work with your supervisor to design and carry out your own psychological research project. **Placement opportunities** We are one of only a few UK universities to build professional work placements into every degree. You'll complete two professional work placements, which will give you the chance to graduate with up to three months' professional work experience without having to take a sandwich year out. You'll complete a five-week placement in your first year and a six-week placement in your second year. We'll also give you the opportunity to complete an additional placement in your final year. Our students have completed placements at mental health organisations, school sport partnerships, schools and youth projects. **Graduate opportunities** Follow in the footsteps of our Psychology graduates who work in a wide variety of different fields including clinical or occupational psychology, marketing, teaching, research, human resources and healthcare. You'll also be well-prepared for postgraduate study in health psychology or neuropsychology.
