Professional Policing - Leeds Trinity University

The world of policing is changing. From 2020, all new entrants to UK police forces will be expected to hold or gain a degree level qualification. This course is an exciting opportunity to develop the knowledge and understanding of the role that professional police officers undertake. You will have the opportunity to study a range of subjects as part of your course including operational policing, legislation connected to police work, diversity and the importance of partnership work. Your studies will provide you with a wide range of knowledge and understanding of theories that the College of Policing has identified as being advantageous for those aspiring to join UK police forces. Your course will also provide you with an opportunity to undertake professional work placements and volunteering to enhance your future employability. Your degree will be accredited by the College of Policing. Although the BA (Hons) Professional Policing qualification will not guarantee you a position within the police service, it will set you apart as an attractive candidate to secure a role. Working in the police force has many benefits, providing job satisfaction and clearly defined progression routes. **Placement Opportunities** We are one of only a few UK universities to build professional work placements into every degree. You'll complete two professional work placements, which will give you the chance to graduate with up to three months' professional work experience without having to take a sandwich year out. Students will undertake placements working within the community. There is also an opportunity to undertake a credit-bearing volunteering module in the second year. All students will be encouraged to volunteer as Special Constables. **Graduate Opportunities** Graduates can enter UK police forces as Special Constables. Other graduate opportunities will be available in allied civilian policing roles, the broader criminal justice system and the security industry.
