Media

Media touches all our lives. It’s a continually evolving sector in the global economy, offering vast opportunities for skilled and creative graduates. The media landscape is constantly changing, so you’ll map it out to understand its complexity and impact, gaining vital practical, professional and creative skills for employment – and life. We’ll equip you with the tools and experience to become a skilled practitioner, researcher and analyst of media and culture, as well as a confident presenter of your own ideas and qualities. You’ll have the opportunity to become a proficient media producer across a range of platforms, exploring radio and podcast production, image creation, online storytelling and television production. In your final year, you’ll apply these skills across major projects in research and production. You’ll have the freedom to pursue areas and ideas which interest you, showcasing your creative, practical and academic abilities. Real-world experience will be at the heart of your university experience, preparing you for graduate career success. You’ll complete two professional work placements during your degree, working on live media projects with employers from the media industry. You’ll have the opportunity to work with our in-house production company Trinity Vision, gaining practical experience in camera skills, editing and new media. We’ll also give you the chance to work as independent producers in small teams to put together a broadcast-quality podcast – from conception and commission, to production. **Graduate opportunities** You’ll graduate with a range of skills that will prepare you for a successful career in television, film, radio, advertising, marketing and education. Many of our graduates have set up their own businesses and work for a wide range of companies, such as the BBC, Sky and ITV. **Placement opportunities** We are one of only a few UK universities to build professional work placements into every degree. You’ll complete two professional work placements, which will give you the chance to graduate with up to three months’ professional work experience without having to take a sandwich year out. Our students have completed diverse professional placements at companies such as True North Productions, Working Title Films, Sunrise Radio, Marie Curie, William Hill and our own in-house production company, Trinity Vision.
