Do you want to educate people about the role that nutrition can play in fuelling the body and preventing diseases? Population weight levels, eating and exercise habits are constantly changing. As they do, the health implications are becoming more apparent. Develop the skills and experience to help people live healthier lifestyles with our Exercise, Health and Nutrition degree. You’ll study the role that exercise and nutrition plays in the maintenance of good health and the prevention of disease. You’ll get a thorough and theoretical grounding in how exercise and nutrition influence health, positively and negatively, while developing the practical skills to improve people’s exercise habits and nutrition. We’ll explore anatomy and physiology of the body alongside the psychology and sociology of exercise and health behaviours. You’ll gain the confidence to effectively communicate and promote health issues, and you’ll put theory into practice by completing two professional work placements. You’ll also get the opportunity to study for additional professional qualifications at no extra cost, including Level 2 Gym Instruction, Level 3 Personal Training and Level 3 Exercise Referral. These professional qualifications are recognised by REPS (Register of Exercise Professionals) and will allow you to access the register, which is a real asset if you want to work in the exercise, health and fitness industry. And we’ve partially mapped the course content to the core competency requirements for registration as an Associate Nutritionist with the Association for Nutrition (AfN). This means you could become an associate member of the AfN after further study. **Graduate opportunities** A strength of the Exercise, Health and Nutrition degree is its diversity and our students have found employment in all three areas as health promoters, nutrition advisers, exercise referral specialists, personal trainers, teachers and sports coaches. You’ll also be prepared to progress on to postgraduate study in exercise and nutrition focusing on promoting or improving health. **Placement opportunities** We are one of only a few UK universities to build professional work placements into every degree. You’ll complete two professional work placements, which will give you the chance to graduate with up to three months’ professional work experience without having to take a sandwich year out. You could complete placements in the UK or abroad, and we also have partnerships with international charities. These have given our students the chance to work on HIV-awareness projects in developing countries such as Rwanda, Cameroon, Uganda and Kenya.
