This highly practical and creative course consists of three main strands: Specialist Study (intensive one-to one tuition and ensemble work), Contextual Studies that will broaden your awareness as a musician) and Professional Studies (a range of study areas that will provide you with key skills that will enable you to position yourself as a highly employable musician). You will enjoy frequent performance opportunities in a range of ensembles, which may include Chamber Choir, Orchestra, Opera and LCoM’s vibrant New Music Collective. Classical musicians at this conservatoire are uniquely placed to collaborate in an environment that includes students of jazz and popular music as well as production and music business students. This course follows the same specifications as our three year BA (Hons) Music (Classical) except that the extra foundation year allows for students who need an extra year of study to achieve the standard of our entry requirements for the 3-year BA. The foundation year modules include one to one tuition on your principal instrument/voice/composition, as well as skills development in ensemble work (or group composition), music theory and musicianship. On completion of the Foundation Year you will continue to the BA (Hons) in Year 1. Please note: our Popular, Music Production/Electronic Music Production, Songwriting, Film Music, Business and Folk Music courses are available as UCAS Undergraduate courses.
