Filmmaking

On this practical degree, you will learn how to produce films and develop your creative and technical filmmaking skills in drama, documentary and experimental film production. Your theoretical studies will inform your practice and our experienced tutors will guide you in a range of specialisms, including directing (drama, experimental film and documentary), producing, cinematography, screenwriting, production design, editing and post-production, and location and post-production sound. You will learn how to engage an audience and you will explore the responsibilities of your practice, discovering and developing who you are as a filmmaker. You will be taught in our own Northern Film School, which creates more than 200 films a year and was rated one of the top five international film schools in the world to watch by the Hollywood Reporter.
