It explores the collection, analysis and interpretation of scientific evidence. Case studies and fieldwork cover every aspect of investigating a crime scene. You’ll gain a broad understanding of the major branches of biology and chemistry and develop laboratory, IT, numeracy and study skills. You’ll study crime scene processing, forensic archaeology, drugs, toxicology, DNA, body fluids, entomology, fibres, fire investigation and ballistics. Specialist topics include blood pattern analysis (BPA), expert witness training, counterfeits and forgeries, and the analysis of trace evidence. An introduction to criminal law includes cross examination in a mock courtroom setting.
