At Keele University, we’re different. Nestled in 600 acres of countryside in the heart of the UK, we have a big campus but a small and cosmopolitan community. We proudly rank 1st for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey for the last three years. This is because it’s more than green and lovely, it’s a place of research and academic excellence too. Studying Marketing and Media, you’ll develop highly complementary skills which will enable you to understand and engage with a range of consumer audiences in different markets, on a course that combines a distinct blend of marketing and media theory with creative practice. You’ll reflect on the ways in which individual and business consumers are affected by, and drive the development of, a range of marketing and communications techniques. Looking at this from local, national and global perspectives, you will explore the role of consumers in society and will learn how to understand and communicate with them. You’ll also examine the impact of marketing on the culture of businesses, governments and other organisations. In the Marketing modules you’ll learn how to plan and implement a successful marketing strategy and have the opportunity to explore branding and digital marketing. In the Media modules you will learn to become a thoughtful critical media practitioner, with a range of competencies such as post production and 3D printing. With the option to combine this programme with a placement year or study abroad option, you’ll gain the skills, experience and competencies for addressing the challenges of a fast-moving global industry. The course will equip you with a range of contemporary skills which are in demand in every type of organisation, not just commerce and industry but also the public sector, political parties, charities, educational institutions and more. You could apply your skills in-house with an organisation or in an agency (such as advertising, web, market research or branding) or in print, online or broadcast media. You might choose to specialise in a field such as video, TV production or social media.
